Domain masking is a great feature if you have ways and means to use it. We’ll explain that further in a moment. But first, when you use PlatoForms as a PDF viewer online or to create fillable PDF forms, you have the option of generating a URL to direct users to the online PDF form or you can embed the form onto a web page and direct traffic to that location.
The process you use in order to create the PDF form is quite easy. By using the PlatoForms online PDF form builder you can build a PDF form from scratch. You start with a blank form and by using a drag ‘n’ drop system, you insert only the parts you require for your PDF form. Once complete all you have to do is publish the form.
When you publish, PlatoForms automatically generates the URL. You could just share the URL to users who require access to the PDF form or you could use domain masking to make the form appear to be on a domain name that you already own. For example, the PDF to web form you created with have a URL that will contain the PlatoForms website domain as part of the page URL. If you are posting the file for others to fill the PDF form online but want it to appear as if it is on a different website, domain masking will be the answer.
The vendor you registered your domain name(s) with will have a domain manager option that you can access to change certain settings. The DNS record is what you would want to alter and the addition you would be making is adding a CNAME record for your subdomain.
Once you update the CNAME PlatoForms will automatically generate an SSL certificate to protect your online form with an HTTPS domain name prefix. You could go even further than that by clicking on Domain Masking in the DNS file. You should see a drop down menu offering you the option to redirect with or without masking. When you choose masking you will also be able to give the page a unique identity.
For example, you own the domain name www.crazyonlineforms.com. The PDF to web form you created is related to a product you offer. When you change the DNS file to redirect from the PlatoForms subdomain to your domain, you can give it the heading of something like, “Welcome To My Crazy Online Forms Page.”
When Masking is activated, you can give users the www.crazyonlineforms.com URL and it will take them directly to your online form hosted at PlatoForms. Only the traffic you send there will think they are on a page from the Crazy Online Forms website. It is a useful tool for business where your specific branding is crucial to your web presence.
