How to set the time zone for submission date/time

Can I control how the submission date and time are displayed based on time zones?

Answer

Yes, you can! You can customize how the submission date and time are shown by selecting the desired time zone setting in your form.

Let’s say someone in Shanghai submits the form at April 29, 1:00 AM (Shanghai time):

• Submitter’s Time Zone → April 29, 1:00 AM (Shanghai time)
• Form Creator’s Time Zone (e.g., New York) → April 28, 1:00 PM (New York time)
• Custom Time Zone (e.g., London) → April 28, 6:00 PM (London time)

This is useful if you want to review submissions in your own time zone or align with a specific region, such as for international teams or time-sensitive campaigns.

Prerequisite

Before adjusting the Convert Submission Date/Time To setting, ensure your form has a Date or Date and Time field. To do so, add a Text field and set it to Date (MM/DD/YYYY)or Date and Time (MM/DD/YYYY hh:mm:ss).

Note: Time-only fields aren’t supported for conversion.

Change time zone for submission date/time

1. Go to Form Settings > General.

   

2. Find the Convert Submission Date/Time To option.

   

3. Choose how you want to display the submission time:

   • Submitter’s Time Zone: Shows the time based on the submitter’s local time (detected from their browser).
   • Form Creator’s Time Zone: Converts the time to your own time zone.
   • Custom Time Zone: Always displays the time in the time zone you select.

   Note: This setting does not affect submission times in already generated PDFs.

4. (Optional) If you choose Custom Time Zone, a Select a Time Zone to Convert Submission Date/Time dropdown will appear so you can pick a specific time zone.

5. To display the converted time on the Submissions page:

   1. On the Submission page, click the Fields icon.

      

   2. Make sure the field with the date/time is enabled in Displayable and Searchable Field settings and click Save.

      

6. Back on the Submissions page, you’ll see the added field column in the list view. Hover over a specific date/time to see a tooltip indicating which time zone it’s shown in.

   

Notes

• The Submitted Date in the submission list will always use the form creator’s time zone.
• The Submitter’s Time Zone is based on their browser and may vary if they travel.
