Can I turn filled-in paper forms into online submissions?

Question

Some of our clients still fill in our form on paper. Can I get those paper copies into PlatoForms with the online submissions, without typing them in?

Answer

Yes. Use Import from paper on the form’s Submissions page. Upload scans or phone photos of the filled copies, AI reads each copy into the form’s fields, and someone on your team checks the answers the AI was unsure of. Each copy then becomes a submission marked Paper, with its completed PDF, next to the ones made online.

Steps

  1. Make sure the form is a PDF Fillable Form or a Web PDF Form built from the same paper form, and that it is published.
  2. On the form’s Submissions page, click Import from paper > New import.
  3. Drop your scans or photos (PDF, JPG, PNG or HEIC) and click Start import. One scan can hold many copies.
  4. When the import is ready, click Review to check the copies one by one, or Create N submissions to create the copies that were read with confidence.

Every plan includes a number of paper pages each month, Free included. See Import from paper for the full guide.
