Can PlatoForms read handwriting on scanned paper forms?
Question
Our paper forms are filled in by hand. Can PlatoForms read handwriting, and what happens when it gets an answer wrong?
Answer
Yes, Import from paper reads both printed and handwritten answers. When the AI is not sure of an answer, for example unclear handwriting or a date that can be read two ways, it marks the field To check instead of guessing. Nothing becomes a submission until someone on your team has checked it.
How the check works
- On the Review page you see the scan and the form’s fields side by side, with a magnified view of the handwriting above the selected field.
- Press Enter to confirm an answer, or type to fix it. Create submission becomes available once every field to check is done.
- Copies where every answer was read with confidence are marked Ready. You can open them too, or create them all at once.
- If your team wants more answers checked, set Review sensitivity to Strict on the Paper intake card (Team menu > API and Webhooks).
Clear scans help: pages flat, in good light, the whole page in the picture. See Review and create submissions.
