Two-factor authentication

To set up two-factor authentication (2FA), go to Account Settings > Two-factor authentication, click Enable Two-Factor Authentication, then Continue, scan the QR code with an authenticator app, and enter the 6-digit code. After that, PlatoForms asks for a code from the app each time you sign in with your password.

What is two-factor authentication (2FA)?

Two-factor authentication adds a second step when you sign in. You enter your password first, then a code generated by an authenticator app. Someone who knows your password still can’t sign in without the code.

Before you begin

Install an authenticator app on your phone or another mobile device, such as Google Authenticator or Microsoft Authenticator.

Enable two-factor authentication

  1. Sign in to PlatoForms.

  2. In the upper-right corner of the Dashboard, click your profile photo, then click Account Settings.

  3. Open the Two-factor authentication tab, click Enable Two-Factor Authentication, then click Continue.

  4. Open your authenticator app and scan the QR code.

  5. Enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, then click Submit.

  6. Copy or download your 10 recovery codes and keep them somewhere safe. If you can’t use your authenticator app, you can use a recovery code to sign in. Each code works once.

    Caution

    Keep your authenticator device and recovery codes secure. If someone may have access to your recovery codes, generate a new set in Account Settings right away.

Generate new recovery codes

You can generate a new set if you lose your recovery codes or think someone else has them.

  1. Go to Account Settings > Two-factor authentication.

  2. Click Show Recovery Code.

  3. On the Recovery Codes page, click Generate Codes.

Enable mandatory 2FA for your team

Note

Only a Team Admin can require all team members to enable 2FA.

First, enable 2FA for your own account. Then go to Account Settings > Two-factor authentication and click Enable Mandatory 2FA for Team Members.

Passkeys and two-factor authentication

A passkey lets you sign in with your fingerprint, face, or device PIN instead of your password. When you use a passkey, PlatoForms doesn’t ask for an authenticator code. If 2FA is on for your account, signing in with your password still asks for the code.
