Use field display name

In this guide, we’ll learn how to enhance form submission management by using field display names. Initially, the Submissions page shows data based on the Code and Submitted Date, with no specific field search capability. However, field display names allow you to make chosen fields visible and searchable.

What is a field display name?

A field display name is an identifier assigned to a particular field in an online form for submissions management. Although it doesn’t appear on the form itself, it is useful for organizing and locating data during form response reviews. On the Submissions page, you can choose fields to display and search by applying field display names, simplifying the process of managing and analyzing form data.

Set field display name

  1. Log in to your PlatoForms account and access the Dashboard page.

  2. Click on Submission in the left navigation.

  3. In the Submission page, select Edit Display Fields.

  4. In the Displayable and Searchable Field window that opens, check the field display names as needed.

    Note

To learn about “Displayable” and “Searchable” options, refer to the Display Name Status section.

Display name status

Setting field display names as displayable or searchable serves different purposes on the Submission page:

  • Displayable
Display names are visible on the Submission page, helping you recognize data types in each field (e.g., “Name,” “Email,” “Phone Number”).

  • Searchable
Searchable display names make it easy for you to find specific submissions. For example, if you want to see all submissions from a particular city, you can enter the display name associated with the city field in the search box. This makes it simpler to organize and locate the data you need.
