AI credits and the monthly allowance

Every AI feature in PlatoForms is measured in AI credits. Each plan, the Free plan included, comes with a monthly AI allowance of credits for the whole team. When the allowance is used up, AI features pause until the next usage period, unless your team lets its usage credit pay for AI beyond the allowance.

See your AI usage

• Team menu > Usage > AI tab: the allowance used this period, what usage credit paid for AI, usage by day and by feature, and every AI usage event.
• Team menu > Usage > Plan capacity > AI allowance row.
• In the web form AI chat and the document AI chat, each reply shows the AI credits it used.

What uses AI credits

How many credits an action uses depends on how much AI work it takes, for example the size of the PDF or the length of the conversation. There is no fixed price per action, and the cost is not shown before you run it.

Where the credits come from

AI credits are taken in this order:

1. Your plan’s monthly AI allowance.
2. AI credits left from packs bought before September 2026, if your team bought any (shown as Purchased credits left). These do not expire. Packs can no longer be bought.
3. Usage credit, only when AI is set to Pay from balance on the Usage credit page. AI beyond the allowance is then charged to the balance once a day.
4. When nothing is left, AI features pause.

The check is made when an AI action starts. An action that has started finishes even if it takes the team past the allowance, so usage can end slightly above 100%.

The usage period

The allowance is per usage period: one month, starting on your team’s billing day, also on yearly plans. On that day the count starts again from zero. Unused allowance does not carry over.

During the free trial your team has the Free plan’s allowance. After subscribing, it has the plan’s allowance, which applies as soon as the plan changes.

When the allowance is used up

• AI features stop with a message, for example “You’ve reached your AI credit limit.” Its link leads to Usage credit.
• Voice filling pauses quietly: people filling the form see voice as temporarily unavailable and can still fill the form by hand.
• Forms, submissions, PDFs, notifications and everything without AI keep working.
• AI comes back at the next usage period, or at once when you add usage credit with AI set to Pay from balance.

The team owner gets an email when 80% of what is available is used, and another when everything is used. “What is available” is the allowance, plus any old AI packs, plus what the usage credit balance can pay when AI is set to Pay from balance. Each email is sent at most once per usage period.

Keep AI working today

1. Open Usage > AI and check Plan allowance used.
2. Click Add credit and add an amount. Adding credit from this link also sets AI to Pay from balance.
3. Optional: turn on Auto-recharge on the Usage credit page and set a Monthly limit.

You can also wait for the reset date shown on Usage, or move to a plan with a larger allowance.

Limit AI spending

Leave AI on Pause (the default) under Usage credit > What the balance pays for. AI then never costs more than your plan’s allowance.

With Pay from balance, spending stops at about the balance plus the auto-recharge Monthly limit. Because AI is charged once a day, the balance can end slightly below $0.00.
